Photoshop help.?

I want to save an edited picture that i edited in photoshop, but it has a photoshop format options pop up that says "Turning off maximize compatability may interfere with the use of PSD files in other applications or with future versions of photoshop. " and if i press ok and save it that way, i can only open it with photoshop, and not any other photo viewer. Tell me what this is and what to do. I"m new to photoshop, so i don't know much about it. Help me save it so i can open it with my other photo viewer.

Try exporting to any other format like gif or jpeg.

As far as opening the file is concerned, press shift and right click on the file name and select "Open with" / "Choose Program"

Select the application with which you want to open the file and then tick the box "Always use the selected program to open this type of file"

For the error that you are seeing, its a settings problem:

See details below:

The Maximize compatibility option is actually a preference setting, and yes, you can turn it on or off via the Preferences dialog box.

To access the preference, choose Photoshop %26gt; Preferences %26gt; File Handling (Edit %26gt; Preferences %26gt; File Handling in Windows) and check out the File Compatibility section of the dialog box, where you鈥檒l find a pop-up menu for Maximize PSD File Compatibility. Your options are Always, Never, and Ask.
