Photoshop CS compatible with 3rd generation Macbook?

- Core 2 Duo

- Intel Processor

- OS X

I recently purchased a Macbook and I need to purchase the photoshop software. I have the Windows version (Photoshop 7.0) and I would like to have a similar version on my Mac. I'm pretty sure the 7.0 Mac software will not be cmpatible with the new Macbooks, but will CS run okay? I don't want elements and CS2, and CS3 are a bit too expensive.

Not sure how well Adobe CS ( the first version) will work with the latest MacBook with regards to speed but Photoshop CS3 will be fine.
